Thank you, thank you, thank you for all those that helped with our MLK Day of Service project! We made 720 scarves (18 more than last year) and collected another van full of items for Journeys in Palatine. Thank you to all of our Elite S.C. and Youth Leader families for supporting our #mlkday of service project ! #thatselite #community #supportesco
The Youth Leaders will be gathering at Salt Creek Sports Center on Monday, January 21, 2019 from 2:00-3:30PM for our annual MLK Day of Service. We will be making fleece scarves and gathering personal care products, which we will donate to Journeys | The Road Home.
Journeys is a local non-profit agency that provides shelter, social services and housing to the homeless and those at risk of becoming homeless in 37 towns in north/northwest suburban Cook County.
What you need for the scarf project:
- 1-2 Yards of Fleece – Patterned or Plain colors that can be used by ALL ages and genders.
- SHARP SCISSORS! – Fleece is very difficult to cut if you don’t have sharp scissors. If you have extras, please label them and bring to share.
- A Sharpie marker to add a personal note to your scarves.
List of personal care products we are accepting, click here: Journeys Personal Care Products
If you can’t make it on the 21st, but would like to contribute, there will be a DROP BOX in the lobby at Salt Creek Sports Center beginning January 7th.
Every little bit helps and with your support, we can make a great impact on the lives of many families right here in our own community.
See you soon!
